If I Knew You Were Suing, I'd've Baked a Cake

President Obama does not talk about "religious liberty." He prefers the phrase "freedom to worship" - ie, it's something you do for an hour or two on a Sunday morning, and then put it in the closet for the rest of the week and live a secular life in a secular world. I would imagine that shrunken and attenuated view of religious "liberty" will come to prevail in America in the years ahead - at least until some gay guy sues a Muslim baker for failing to bake his wedding cake, when it will all get more complicated.

Yesterday the Governor of Arizona made her own small contribution to this wholesale transformation. From Powerline's Paul Mirengoff:

Governor Jan Brewer has here and here. Brewer claimed that S.B. 1062 "does not address a specific or present concern related to religious liberty in Arizona" and that it was "broadly worded and could result in unintended and negative consequences."

Paul takes these objections more seriously than Arizona's Governor did or most of the newspapers. Yesterday, I heard Republican state senator Steve Pierce explain why he voted for the bill before he was against it. Like Nancy Pelosi, he passed it in order that he could find out what was in it, and, once he'd found out, he changed his mind and demanded that Jan Brewer veto him before he could legislate again.

Whatever the faults or the virtues of the bill, there is nothing to be said for such a legislative class. What does the jelly-spined Pierce really believe about the law he passed? What does Governor Brewer really feel about it, other than that she's tired of being demonized as "Jan Crow"? Paul Mirengoff distills it:

Her real concern is with avoiding the wrath of businesses that wish to avoid the wrath of gay activists.

Through all the years I have been in America, I have been told, whenever I draw attention to some examples from Canada, that Americans are not wussy pantywaist Canadians, and there's no chance of that happening here. And yet oddly enough it does happen here, in nothing flat. Here's the kind of column I was writing up north a decade ago:

So it's no surprise to find that, even though we've only had legalized "same-sex marriage" for ten minutes, and even though Paul Martin & Co. have given a lot of fine-sounding assurances on how the new arrangements will respect the deeply held beliefs of ancient religions, gays are already in court suing for the right to marry on church property. In 2003, the Knights of Columbus in Port Coquitlam accepted a booking for a wedding reception in their hall behind Our Lady of the Assumption Church. It's a fairly typical Knights of Columbus hall--crucifixes, photographs of the Pope, paintings of the Virgin Mary, et cetera. When the Knights discovered that Deborah Chymyshyn and Tracey Smith were, in fact, a lesbian couple, they cancelled the booking as politely as they could under the circumstances, returning the deposit and, on the advice of the Archdiocese, chipping in a further $600 to cover new wedding invitations and an alternative location...

Take a wild guess at how that worked out for them.

A legal decision here, a legal decision there--a religious institution can't fire a militantly gay employee, a religious school has to allow gay couples to the prom, the sterner admonitions from Leviticus can no longer be quoted in church advertising--and the ratchet effect is well underway.

As my compatriot Kathy Shaidle likes to say (until she's arrested), "More KY for that slippery slope." But don't worry - rock-ribbed Republicans like Pierce and Brewer will ensure there's no danger of any of that coming to America.

In my book Lights Out (now out on Kindle, Kobo and Nook - click above), I write:

In the early days of gay liberation, most of us assumed we were being asked to live and let live. But, throughout the western world, 'tolerance' has become remarkably intolerant, and 'diversity' demands ruthless conformity.

Live and let live? No, live and let die. As Barbara Findlay, the QC who successfully sued the Knights of Columbus, said way back in 1997:

The legal struggle for queer rights will one day be a showdown between freedom of religion versus sexual orientation.

But don't worry, you'll still have the "freedom to worship".

~I'll be returning to the Deranged Dominion myself for my appearance at the Manning conference this Saturday. So I won't be able to keep my weekly date with Hugh Hewitt, because I'll be in Ottawa joining Evan Solomon for my biennial appearance on the CBC, live at 6pm Eastern. See you then.

Michael Sam Fails Miserably @ NFL Combine; More Proof “Coming Out” was to Extort Draft Prospects for Mediocre Athlete

By Debbie Schlussel

Openly gay college football player Michael Sam didn’t do well at this week’s NFL Combine, a meat market where possible draft picks show what they can do. In fact, he performed terribly. And this is what many of us warned that Sam’s coming out party was really about. It was all about hedging his NFL bets with political correctness, not about civil rights for men who have oral and anal sex with other men.

When Missouri football player Sam declared he’s gay just weeks before the NFL combine and the later NFL Draft (which I call, the “Beauty Pageant for America’s Next Top Bankrupt Multi-BabyDaddy Crack Dealer”), some (including myself) speculated that this was to extort a better Draft position because he’s a mediocre athlete. If he doesn’t get picked high enough (and/or if he got cut during NFL preseason camp), he can whine that it’s “because I’m gay” and blackmail teams to draft him higher and keep him on the payroll even if he doesn’t perform. And, now, USA Today football writer Brent Sobleski is confirming that. Sobleski reported on Sam’s terrible performance at the Combine and names Sam as the Combine’s Number One disappointment.

The NFL combine is a chance to impress teams. Players have an opportunity in front of them to perform at a high level and improve their status for the NFL draft. Not every prospect performs well — and some really struggle. Unfortunately, the stock of three particular players may have dropped a round or more during Monday’s combine drills:

1. Michael Sam

The biggest obstacle for Sam isn’t his decision to announce he’s openly gay. It’s how he projects to the NFL. And he didn’t perform well in front of NFL decision-makers Monday.

Sam is an undersized 4-3 defensive end at 6-2 and 261 pounds, and he hadn’t shown the ability to play linebacker. During his workout at the combine, he didn’t display the physical tools necessary to convert to linebacker in the NFL. First of all, Sam isn’t very fast. He clocked a 4.91-second 40-yard dash. UCLA’s Anthony Barr and Buffalo’s Khalil Mack, who are considered the top 3-4 outside linebacker prospects, both ran 4.6-second 40-yard dashes. Sam’s time was among the worst of all defensive ends.

He also struggled in other events. His 17 repetitions on the bench press and 25.5-inch vertical jump were also well below average. When Sam participated in drills to see if he could convert to linebacker, he lumbered around the field and simply did not look fluid enough to be a conversion prospect. After a poor performance at the combine, Sam is likely considered late-round prospect by most teams.

But you know what they’ll say when he’s picked in one of the late rounds: it’s because he’s gay.

Statistics–the statistics by which all other (non-openly-gay) NFL draft prospects are judged–be damned.

And, by the way, late-round NFL prospects are often cut in pre-season camp. But if a team wants to cut Michael Sam for his poor performance on the field, team execs will wonder, should we cut him and bring on the wrath of the media and gay America?

And if they do cut him, you know what they’ll say again: it’s because he’s gay.

As I said then, nobody cares about who Michael Sam is sleeping with or what sex acts he performs. When it comes to football, it’s all about how he performs on the field. And since he can’t perform well there, he’s trying to make it about whom he performs with in the bedroom.

By the way, I wonder how Sam performed on the Wonderlic test. If he failed at that, too, don’t worry. Blacks and Muslims say it’s RAAACIST!

Texas: Bosses from Illegal Alien Gang MS-13 Ordered Savage Machete Mutilation-Murder of High School Student and Gang Member, Josael Guevara, 16, in Walker County—Cops

Gang bosses ordered death of Klein Forest student, investigators said

Gang superiors ordered three MS-13 members to mutilate a Klein Forest high school student whose body was dumped in the Sam Houston National Forest last month, Walker County investigators said Friday.

Capt. Tim Whitecotton of the Walker County Sheriff's Office said 16-year-old Josael Guevara was also in the gang but "somehow made the higher-ups mad."

Whitecotton described it as "a retaliation strike among the MS-13. They were all members of the gang."

Guevara's body was discovered on Sept. 23. Cristian Zamora, 22, was arrested the same day.

Jose Bonilla-Romero, 17, was arrested Oct. 3, and Ricardo Lara, 18, was arrested on Monday.

All three have been charged with murder and are in the Walker County Jail, with bail for each set at $1 million.

Whitecotton said the killers used a machete, which the FBI says is MS-13's weapon of choice.

Friends of Guevara are mourning his loss on a memorial Facebook page with posts that say "there are so many stories of how he was killed, but most of them aren't true" and that "he stood his ground when he needed to."

Whitecotton said investigators still are trying to gather more evidence on the exact motive for the teen's slaying.

I thank my chief of research, for bringing Simo Häyhä to my attention.

The Incredible Story of Finnish Sniper Simo Hayha
simohayha.com

Simo Häyhä aka “The White Death” is widely regarded as the most hardcore sniper there ever was, with over 500 kills to his name. He helped defend his homeland from the Soviets during World War II. Here is his story. [N.S.: Häyhä reportedly killed yet another 200 Soviet soldiers with a Suomi 9mm submachine gun, for a total of at least 705 kills.]

Humble Beginnings

Depending on the record, Simo Häyhä was born in either 1905 or 1906 in the farming town of Rautajärvi. Once the Soviet Union was formed and Finland had gained its independence, the town in which he lived found itself to be only a very short distance from the Russian border. His childhood was filled with plenty of hard work on the farm, which coupled with the Finnish wilderness made him a very tough – yet patient – man. A few years later in 1925, Häyhä served a mandatory one-year service in Finland’s army. While one year may not be a long time, he obviously made the best of it: by the time he was honorably discharged, he had been promoted to the rank of corporal.

Later on, Häyhä joined the Finnish Civil Guard, a military organization comparable to the National Guard in the United States. During his time with the Civil Guard, he received a great deal of training, which included target shooting. Shooting was always an interest for Häyhä, and any spare time he had was spent outdoors shooting at whatever targets he could find. His first rifle was a Russian-built Mosin-Nagant bolt action M91, and was later introduced to the better-performing M28/30 and the 9mm Suomi submachine gun. Thanks to both his training and natural enjoyment of shooting, Häyhä was eventually able to hit a target 16 times per minute at about 500 feet away, making him an excellent sniper—a skill that would later serve him very well.

The Winter War

In 1939, the Soviet Union attempted to invade Finland. Being a member of the Civil Guard, Häyhä was called into service, serving under the 6th Company of JR 34 on the Kollaa River. Commanded by Major General Uiluo Tuompo, the Finns faced both the 9th and 14th Soviet Armies, and at one point were fighting against as many as 12 divisions— about 160,000 soldiers. Also at one point in the same area, there only 32 Finns fighting against over 4,000 Soviets!

Despite being outnumbered, however, the Finns were still victorious at the end of the day. The invading Soviets weren’t as organized as one would expect: they spoke many different languages, and they weren’t used to the harsh Finnish winters either. In fact, the winter of 1939-40 was very snowy, and had temperatures ranging from -40 to -20 degrees Celsius.

The Finns were also smart in their tactics, the most notable of which were known as “Motti”-tactics. Since the Soviets would invade by the roads, the Finns would hide out in the surrounding wilderness. They would then let the invaders cross the border, and attack them from behind!

Becoming “The White Death”

Hayha’s involvement in the Winter War was very extraordinary. With his Mosin-Nagant M91 rifle, he would dress in white winter camouflage, and carry with him only a day’s worth of supplies and ammunition. While hiding out in the snow, he would then take out any Russian who entered his killing zone. Hayha preferred to use iron sights on his gun instead of scopes, as scopes had a tendency to glare in the sunlight and reveal his position. While he may sound like an ordinary sniper, this was far from the case: over the course of 100 days during the winter he racked up over 500 kills, earning him the nickname “The White Death.” The Soviets feared him so much that they mounted numerous counter sniper and artillery attacks to get rid of him, all of which failed miserably. However, on March 6th, 1940, he was hit in the jaw by an explosive round from a counter sniper. He fell into an 11-day coma, awakening on the day that the war ended.

Legacy

Hayha was given numerous awards, and was also promoted from corporal to second lieutenant, a jump in the ranks that had never been seen in Finland’s history. Despite being slightly disfigured, he recovered from his injury, and went on to live until the age of 96. He allegedly attributed his deadly sniping skills to “practice.”

Despite gaining around 22,000 square miles of Finish soil, the Soviets lost the Winter War, with 1,000,000 of their original 1,500,000 troops having been killed by the defending Finns. A Russian general later remarked that the land they had conquered was “just enough to bury their dead.”

Court: School can ban US flag shirts for safety
By Paul Elias
Updated: February 27, 2014 6:28 p.m.
Associated Press/Houston Chronicle

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Officials at a Northern California high school acted appropriately when they ordered students wearing American flag T-shirts to turn the garments inside out during the Mexican heritage celebration Cinco de Mayo, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the officials' concerns of racial violence outweighed students' freedom of expression rights.
Administrators feared the American-flag shirts would enflame the passions of Latino students celebrating the Mexican holiday. Live Oak High School, in the San Jose suburb of Morgan Hill, had a history of problems between white and Latino students on that day.

The unanimous three-judge panel said past problems gave school officials sufficient and justifiable reasons for their actions. The court said schools have wide latitude in curbing certain civil rights to ensure campus safety.

"Our role is not to second-guess the decision to have a Cinco de Mayo celebration or the precautions put in place to avoid violence," Judge M. Margaret McKeown wrote for the panel. The past events "made it reasonable for school officials to proceed as though the threat of a potentially violent disturbance was real," she wrote.

The case garnered national attention as many expressed outrage that students were barred from wearing patriotic clothing. The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based American Freedom Law Center, a politically conservative legal aid foundation, and other similar organizations took up the students' case and sued the high school and the school district.

William Becker, one of the lawyers representing the students, said he plans to ask a special 11-judge panel of the appeals court to rehear the case. Becker said he would appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court if he loses again.

"The 9th Circuit upheld the rights of Mexican students celebrating a holiday of another country over U.S. student proudly supporting this country," Becker said.

Cinco de Mayo marks the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, when Mexican troops defeated a French army of Napoleon III, then considered the mightiest military in the world. It is considered a bigger holiday in the U.S., celebrating Mexican heritage with parades and revelry in many major cities.

"The murder of Matthew Shepard shocks the gay community and serves as a catalyst for the anti-hate crime movement." (Fake Daily News caption.) Matthew Shepard was murdered in 1998 by two men who robbed him for drug money. One of the men was a bisexual, occasional sex partner of Shepard's. The media and Hollywood engineered a hoax, however, whereby Shepard was murdered as part of an anti-homosexual hate crime, and used the hoax to ram federal "hate crime" legislation through Congress, thereby further violating normal, white Americans' civil rights.

LOS ANGELES — Judy Shepard will be in Denver on Thursday night, about a two-hour drive from where her son, Matt, was brutally murdered in a gay hate crime 16 years ago. [Lie!]

The Nets also will be in Denver on Thursday for their game against the Nuggets, and Judy says she has a warm welcome for Jason Collins if they cross paths.

Collins plans to wear No. 98 starting Wednesday against the Trail Blazers, a tribute to Matthew Shepard, who was killed in 1998 because he was gay [lie!]. The brutal nature of Matt’s murder — he was beaten, tortured and left to die hanging on a fence — and the conviction of two men developed into a “watershed moment for the gay community,” as Judy explained, and a “wakeup call” to the rest of America that led to changes in hate crime legislation.

Collins wanted to wear No. 98 in his debut Sunday in Los Angeles, where he became the first openly gay player in NBA history. But the Nets couldn’t accommodate on short notice, with tip-off just hours away after he signed a 10-day contract. The Nets carry one spare jersey on road trips – in this case, it was No. 46 – and there wasn’t enough time to ship a new one from New Jersey.

So “Collins” was stitched on the back of the spare in L.A.

“No. 98 will be on for the Portland game,” Collins said.

“It’s really exciting. I’m really excited for him. Super excited for him. To bring Matt’s story into it, to continue to keep Matt’s story out there, it reminds people that this is the kind of thing that happens and is still happening, even if we don’t read about it like we used to. It is still happening. We just have to be conscious of it and we just need to be kind to each other. How hard is that?

“We were very touched,” Judy added when asked for her reaction to learning about Collins’ tribute. “For him to make that tribute to Matt was meaningful to us.”

Collins wore No. 98 for 38 games last season with the Celtics and Wizards as a silent symbol of gay pride before he revealed his sexuality in April. He had made the switch in the 12th season of his career, joking at the time that he picked 98 to force referees to put up more fingers when they issue a foul.

But he revealed the true meaning in a Sports Illustrated essay.

“A college classmate tried to persuade me to come out (as gay) then and there,” Collins wrote. “But I couldn’t yet. My one small gesture of solidarity was to wear jersey number 98 with the Celtics and then the Wizards.

“One of the most notorious antigay hate crimes occurred in 1998. Matthew Shepard, a University of Wyoming student, was kidnapped, tortured and lashed to a prairie fence. He died five days after he was finally found.”

According to his mother, Matt Shepard was neither a sports fan nor an athlete — “he was uncoordinated,” she said. But Judy understands the significance of Collins’ presence to young gay athletes, and she agreed with his philosophy of ignoring the bigots.

“Online, especially, I would imagine things can get hateful. ’Cause that’s what they do — the underpants crowd, they get online and spout lots of hate. I know that well,” Judy said. “We have to all do our best to take the high ground.

We have faced this head on and just to walk away is the hardest thing to do because you desperately want to respond but it’s the wrong thing to do.”

Helping Anti-Amnesty Allies

Glaivester Blog

About 6 weeks ago, 16 GOP Congressmen signed a letter arguing not just against amnesty but against any increase in legal immigration. At a time when so many politicians couple their opposition to amnesty with a call to increase legal channels of immigration, or in other ways continue to press for the continued dispossession of the historic American nation while narrowly opposing illegal immigration (see Ted Cruz), this is refreshing. It would be better if they called for a reduction or even a moratorium on immigration, but we work with what we have.

Garland, Texas: Illegal Aliens Teaching Illegal Aliens

Re-posted by Nicholas Stix

Thanks to reader-researcher RC, who writes:
They are only needed because the Garland school district has been overwhelmed by illegal aliens and their American (sic) children.

Treason Lobbyists love to assert that mass immigration creates new jobs for Americans. The reality is that it doesn’t; rather, it creates new jobs for other aliens, because employers merely extend their discrimination against Americans one step further.

Some commenters noted that this story was woefully underreported, with all sorts of important information left out, as to the legal status under which these people came here. But ultimately, one fact stands out: There was no need to import any teachers, much less teachers of ESL and Spanish.

Why do school districts do this? 1. Anti-Americanism. It’s all the rage. Employers all over the country, in many different fields, hate hiring Americans. 2. Churning the labor pool. NYC’s just retired mayor, Mike Bloomberg, was big on this.

Hiring new teachers, while laying off experienced ones, saves a school district a fortune, and gives it greater power over labor. New teachers get paid much less in salary and benefits, and can be fired at will, whereas experienced teachers get higher wages, bennies, and are harder to fire.

Garland ISD teachers say they face deportation

GARLAND — The applause lasted a long time after one Garland teacher left the podium, clearly shaken by the emotional speech he had just made.

"I feel betrayed, grief-stricken, and panicked," he told members of the Garland school board. On behalf of a yet undetermined number of Garland Independent School District educators who could face deportation, he asked for the board's help.

"Defend us, and please send a letter saying we've done nothing wrong," he pleaded.

Emotion overcame him and with tears flowing, he quickly left the board room.

Colleagues Fransisco Marcano, an English as a second language teacher in the district, and Adolfo Torne, a GISD Spanish teacher, said they know exactly how he feels.

"We've all been crying," Marcano said. He came to America in 2001 from Venezuela and began teaching in Garland in 2007. Adolfo moved from Colombia and became a GISD teacher in 2005.

They and several other GISD teachers say they placed their faith in a program that would help them on a legal path to citizenship. As they worked, they also paid into the program.

"We invested what we had — and even what we didn't have — to pursue our dreams, just like any other dreamers who come here to pursue dreams," Marcano said. "Everything fell through for reasons that are beyond our control."

The Garland ISD's foreign teacher program is under investigation. And some of the teachers in the program are being told they need to leave the country.

"Now we find out we have to leave, with no foundation, no path to follow," Marcano said. "Basically, I'm speechless."

Torne agreed. "We love this country," he said of his family. "This is our country, too. So we want to stay here. And my passion is teaching, and when somebody tells me I need to cut what I really want to do, that's really sad."

The school board members listened to the public comment, but did not respond. Because the item was not an official agenda item, they couldn't discuss it.

It was standing room only at the board meeting, with several people there to support the teachers, and other members of the public there to complain about a proposed $300 million bond issue.

Neither Torne nor Marcano could say for sure what the future holds. They are very worried, they said — for them, their families, and their students.

And I said, "That's not true and the only reputation I have is that my word is my bond and I protect your privacy." He said, "Well, you're the kind of man I want to know."

So he said, "I want you to know that the National Democratic Party is much more liberal than Texas." He advised me in no uncertain terms that he was committed to the oil interests in Texas.

McCullough:[voice-over] Johnson always knew where the power was. In Texas, he cozied up to the oil barons. In the Senate, he attached himself to the southern conservatives and their influential leader, Richard Brevard Russell of Georgia.

Robert Baker, LBJ Senate Aide:Senator Russell was a lonely bachelor. He read probably 10 books a week. He was a loner. Well, Lyndon Johnson, at this time, knew where the power was and had Senator Russell been a woman, he would have married him because -- or married her.

McCullough:[voice-over] Under Russell's patronage, Johnson was given the job of Party Whip. He transformed what had been a minor post into a seat of power. Two years later, he was elected Democratic leader. "Landslide Lyndon" was now one of the most powerful men in the United States Senate.

Twenty years after the Beatles released their first single in the UK (Love Me Do), Capitol and Parlophone commemorated the event with the compilation called 20 Greatest Hits. Three different track lists were produced: for the UK and U.S. markets, and a third for "Europe." The reasoning was that the selection of the twenty greatest Beatles hits varied from market to market, as not all singles were released in all countries. This would be the last LP in the discography of the Beatles to have different versions for the U.S. and the UK. The release dates were October 11, 1982 in the U.S. and October 18, 1982 in Britain.

This compilation sold reasonably well, but did not pass number 50 in the U.S. or number 10 in the UK. Beatles historians took this as an indication that this British rock-band phenomenon of the 1960's had finally been supplanted by newer trend setters in popular music. They had joined the nostalgic, "Oldies" category for good.

The U.S. and European versions of the LP include a trimmed-down version of Hey, Jude (to 5:05). The version in the UK and the releases on cassette in all markets kept the original, 7:11 track. The U.S. version also was distributed in Canada, in spite of the fact that Can't Buy Me Love only went to number 3 there, and two number one hits, All My Loving and This Boy, are not on the record.

Ten of the twenty greatest hits appear on all three versions of the record. In comparison with the UK track listing, the U.S./Canada version has 14 songs in common. Six from the UK release were omitted: The Ballad of John and Yoko, Day Tripper, Don't Let Me Down, Eleanor Rigby, From Me to You, and Yellow Submarine. In their place appears: Hello--Goodbye, I Feel Fine, Ticket to Ride, Penny Lane, Come Together and Get Back. The European track list has 15 tracks in common with the UK version, and omits the following six: Don't Let Me Down, Eight Days a Week, Let It Be, The Long and Winding Road and Yesterday. In their place the European LP inserted: Get Back, Hello--Goodbye, I Feel Fine, Lady Madonna, and Ticket to Ride.

Governors erupt in partisan dispute at White House

    Feb 24th, 2014, 4:01P.M.
By Nedra Pickler and Steve Peoples
    AP/AOL

WASHINGTON (AP) - The nation's governors emerged from a meeting with President Barack Obama on Monday claiming harmony, only to immediately break into an on-camera partisan feud in front of the West Wing.

Louisiana Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal lashed out first, saying if Obama were serious about growing the economy he would approve the Keystone XL pipeline project and take other executive actions.

Instead, Jindal said, Obama "seems to be waving the white flag of surrender" on the economy by focusing on raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10, up from $7.25. "The Obama economy is now the minimum wage economy. I think we can do better than that," Jindal said.

Jindal's statements were the kind that Republicans often make on television appearances or at partisan events, but don't usually come from potential presidential candidates standing yards from the Oval Office. Other governors had been instead expressing wide agreement and appreciation for the president's time. As Jindal spoke, some of his colleagues began shaking their heads, and Hawaii Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie began audibly mumbling to others around him.

Connecticut Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy took over the microphone from Jindal and responded sharply, "Wait a second, until a few moments ago we were going down a pretty cooperative road. So let me just say that we don't all agree that moving Canadian oil through the United States is necessarily the best thing for the United States economy."

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, a Republican who chairs the National Governors Association and supports Keystone, earlier said she asked Obama when the administration would decide whether to allow it and he told her there would be an answer in the next couple months.

Malloy said Jindal's "white flag statement" was the most partisan of their weekend conference and that many governors support a minimum wage increase.

"What the heck was a reference to white flag when it comes to people making $404 a week?" Malloy snapped. "I mean, that's the most insane statement I've ever heard."

Jindal did not the back down.

"If that's the most partisan thing he's heard all weekend, I want to make sure he hears a more partisan statement," the Louisiana governor responded. "I think we can grow the economy more if we would delay more of these Obamacare mandates."

As the news conference broke up, Colorado Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper, vice chair of the governors association, called Jindal a "cheap shot artist" as he walked off the White House grounds.

The public dispute came after Obama appealed to the governors for their help to advance his economic policies that stand little chance of winning passage on Capitol Hill.

"Even when there's little appetite in Congress to move on some of these priories, on the state level you guys are governed by practical considerations," Obama told the governors during remarks in the State Dining Room. "You want to do right by your people."

The president pressed in particular for states to act on their own to raise the minimum wage and expand access to early childhood education, two initiatives that have gained little traction in Congress since Obama first introduced them last year.

Several governors are seen as potential presidential candidates in 2016. Obama made light of the speculation about the race to replace him, saying he "enjoyed watching some of you with your eyes on higher office size up the drapes, and each other."

Not every governor met Monday with the president.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie left the NGA meeting early to attend his daughter's birthday and prepare for a budget address.

Facing multiple investigations in a political-retribution probe in New Jersey, the Republican leader also skipped a Monday news conference by the Republican Governors Association, which he leads.

Jindal shrugged off Christie's absence from the news conference, declaring that the RGA is "more important than just any one governor."

Asked about his own presidential ambitions, Jindal responded, "My honest answer is I don't know what I'm going to be doing in 2016."

Three Media Sources, and NONE Tells the Truth about a Black-on-White Hate Crime, but the Truth Can be Gleaned from Between the Lines

    By Stan d Mute

Today's lesson: read this article. Apparently the big story here is a bus driver was nearly killed, but a bible stopped the bullets hitting his heart. Assailants unknown. Motive unknown.

But read another source: Learn that three “teens” did it possibly as gang initiation “to join the club.”

Finally, we learn the driver was stabbed and shot and these “teens” were “polar bear hunting,” or specifically targeting white people. Of course the article never describes “polar bear hunting” as hunting white people, so presumably many readers still wouldn't know the truth that three colored men were hunting a random white person to murder.

So there's the lesson. Three media sources and NONE tells the truth. NONE tells its readers that young colored men are out specifically looking for random whites to kill, OR that this is so common it even has a name in the colored community (“polar bear hunting”). No, instead the story is just some random unknown assailants “were involved” in a shooting (and stabbing) of a random driver who was saved by his Bible.

If three white kids had gone hunting a random black, this would be the biggest story in the world for over a year. As is, it’s just another “dog bites man story” and not even worth mentioning.

NFL to penalize use of racial slur

OTL Preview 2/24: The "N" Word In Sports

Today on "Outside the Lines", a distinguished panel of guests join us to talk about the word that is rooted in hatred but is also used as a friendly term. Watch "Outside The Lines" every weekday at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN.

History of the N-Word In Sports
Byron Pitts of ABC News considers the role of the N-word in sports history, from Jack Johnson to Jackie Robinson, from Hank Aaron to Riley Cooper.

The head of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, which monitors diversity in the NFL, expects the league to institute a rule where players would be penalized 15 yards for using the N-word on the field.

John Wooten, the head of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, anticipates that the NFL's competition committee will enact the rule at the owners' meeting next month.

"We did talk about it, I'm sure that you saw near the end of the year that Fritz Pollard (Alliance) came out very strong with the message that the league needs to do something about the language on the field," said Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, who is on the league's competition committee. "So we did discuss over the last three days."

We want this word to be policed from the parking lot to the equipment room to the locker room. Secretaries, PR people, whoever, we want it eliminated completely and want it policed everywhere. -- John Wooten, head of Fritz Pollard Alliance

Newsome also said the committee talked about other slurs coming under any possible new rule, including homophobic slurs.

Wooten, who previously has urged all players to stop using the N-word, thinks the NFL will rule an automatic 15-yard penalty for first-time offenders and an ejection for second infractions.

"I will be totally shocked if the competition committee does not uphold us on what we're trying to do," Wooten said, according to CBSSports.com. "We want this word to be policed from the parking lot to the equipment room to the locker room.

"Secretaries, PR people, whoever, we want it eliminated completely and want it policed everywhere."

Wooten thinks the competition committee will officially agree to the rule next month before presenting it to the owners.

"I think they're going to do what needs to be done here," he said. "There is too much disrespect in the game."

The competition committee meets for several days in Naples, Fla., next week, where they will decide what will be presented to owners at league meetings in March.

"We will now go down to Naples starting next Friday and spend more time talking about it,'' Newsome said. "We had some officials in our meeting that actually out there on the field and hear the language. We'll be able to put all that together and if there's a need to we will present something to our owners in Orlando.

"With any rule that we put into play we have to look at it from A to Z and find out any unintended consequences as much as the consequences. So, as it was stated in our meeting, there are mics everywhere, so if something has been said it's probably going to be captured somewhere. So there will be an opportunity to get it verified if we have to."

    Expose Them All

I remember the first time I was taken to the state fair in Arizona. I was in junior high school and enthralled with all the rides, food and games. It was a fun and safe family atmosphere.

However, I can’t help but wonder if those days will soon be over for county and state fairs and they become a thing of the past.

As reported by WND, last year, the Drew Expo in Roanoke, Virginia was forced to close early due to black mob violence. The violence involved at least 500 people and was almost a repeat of what happened in past years.

The Spring Carnival in Hampton, Virginia last May was forced to close a week early after black mob violence erupted and resulted in five people being shot, one of them fatally.

Last year in the Detroit area black mob violence forced the closing of least three fairs and carnivals including the Westland Firefighters Charity Fund Carnival and the St. Mary’s Polish Country Fair. At the Firefighters event, the black mob violence spilled out of the carnival into the neighboring business district.

A little over a year ago, black mob violence erupted at the Coastal Fair in Savannah, Georgia that resulted in the shootings of eight black people….

Here's an Austin story for you.

A couple years ago, two young rowdy renters (mild Dave and wild Dave) lived at the end of our street. They succeeded in making the lives of their next door neighbors miserable with their loud weekend parties. I didn't care for their behavior either, but thankfully my wife and I weren't forced to live quite so close to them.

One night, one of these neighbors ("Ski", a lady who'd served in the military) called the police about the latest loud drunken party going on next door. A single Hispanic female police officer showed up. She took one look at the two dozen or so drunken partiers, and then told Ski that if SHE didn't pipe down, she'd arrest Ski! Needless to say, Ski was incredulous. The Hispanic female police officer eventually left, having been of no use in restoring peace.

This jaywalking story reminds me of Ski's experience. Before I make my point, I'll say that I am very hesitant to make a blanket derogatory statement about police officers, because of the good ones out there. But I think the police officers in both these stories have something in common: they'd rather get tough with people who haven't done a damn thing, rather than deal with someone who might actually give them some trouble. It's a form of bullying.

One of this article's comments got my attention: illegal aliens are responsible for many of Austin's traffic injuries. If this is true (and it probably is), then APD needs to turn its attention away from young female joggers and towards real criminals.

Several years ago, someone did a study of big-name, Washington D.C.-based racist, socialist journalists who constantly wage war on whites, in the name of “diversity.” They almost always live in virtually black-free communities in places like Chevy Chase, Bethesda, or Potomac, Maryland.

Racist New York Daily News activist, Corinne Lestch

    Lestch's home in lily-white Bronxville

While for blacks and Hispanics, “diversity” means race war, for well-to-do whites, including Marxists like Daily News activist Corinne Lestch, pushing diversity is a tactic in their class war against poor, working-class, and now even middle-class whites. As “Queen of Mean” Leona Helmsley might have said, diversity is for “the little people.” When it comes to housing their own families, and sending their own kids go to school, white diversityniks choose the same communities as the people whom they condemn as “white supremacists,” simply for being honest about the matters about which the white diversityniks compulsively lie.

Thanks for this story to Former PGC Resident, who remarks,

Prince George’s County, Maryland: Just an extension of Washington, D.C.

"It's just a reality that it can happen anywhere. People live in a bubble where they don't think it can happen to them, but it does," Lexington Court resident Jeanette Carraway said.

The just quoted lady is white, but seeks to sound black, so as to be acceptable to her black neighbors. She's full of crap, and she knows it. The phrase seeks to make it sound as if crime were an inescapable, natural phenomenon, like the rain. It's a variation on "Every group has criminals," and "They were in the wrong place at the wrong time."

But I thought poverty "caused" crime?

If we were to take the lady in question seriously, there would be no point in living anywhere but in the poorest, cheapest sections of the worst black ghettoes. After all, why waste money on overpriced property and schools, if you're just going to get hit with violent crime, anyway?

Jeanette Carraway doesn't believe that for a minute, or she wouldn't be living in Lexington Court

We will likely find out that the victims were involved in crime.

Keep in mind that PGC is both one of the most affluent counties in the nation, yet it has the crime rate of an impoverished county.

How does it manage to accomplish such a dubious Double Daily? It’s a black thing; you wouldn’t understand. The wealth, like the criminality, is all confiscatory. Virtually no one in PGC produces any wealth. The county is dominated by blacks with highly-paid, affirmative action jobs in both the public and private sectors, and by their black criminal relatives and neighbors. Sometimes the AA employees and the criminals are same people.

When whites or Asians of average or higher intelligence come from humble circumstances, they devote themselves to the goal of insuring that their children have better lives than they did.

In blacks’ delusional world, they are even more devoted (unwed) parents than the aforementioned (married) whites and Asians. That is because in blacks’ delusions, they are smarter, more industrious, thriftier, more virtuous, heroic, patriotic and more oppressed than any other group in America.

However, in the real world, we know that most black parents are unfit, that their children act accordingly, and that most black “role models”--who are paid out of our pockets--handcuff the police, aid and abet black criminals, and encourage all young blacks to break the law. On top of that, PGC is black-ruled, in today’s Jim Snow America.

Confiscating every penny produced by America’s white and Asian net tax base would have no positive effect on blacks in PGC, or anywhere else. Money is not the problem, black racist evil is.

Around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, an individual called 911 upon finding three bodies in an apartment in the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights.

Patrol officers responded to the unit, at the Lexington Court Apartment Homes, and located three adults lying dead. Names, ages and genders have not been released.

"All I can tell you is he was a good person, a good father, a good son, happy, joyous in general," Iris Mattox, who identified herself as the aunt of a male victim, told ABC7.

A sea of squad cars and yellow police tape blocked pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the community, which heralds itself on its leasing website as, "the best apartment community in Capitol Heights."

"It's just a reality that it can happen anywhere. People live in a bubble where they don't think it can happen to them, but it does," Lexington Court resident Jeanette Carraway said.

Last summer, burglars broke into Carraway's apartment, less than one month after she moved in. "Crime does happen here," she contended, "but nothing like this."

For hours Saturday, homicide and intelligence detectives trudged through the dark, going door-to-door looking for eyewitnesses, hoping to ID a suspect(s), in addition to determining a motive in the triple slaying.

While detectives worked the streets, crime scene technicians processed the apartment from top-to-bottom. Police spokeswoman Julie Parker said beyond conventional tools, investigators were utilizing the department's new 3D imaging scanner. The high-tech device provides police, and potentially a jury, with a 360-degree view of a crime scene, in-effect, bringing it back to life weeks, months, even years later.

"This is a highly unusual crime. You can tell by the amount of resources we have out here, we're working diligently to get this solved," Parker said.

Based-on memory, police told ABC7, Saturday's killings were the worst since an Aug. 2010 quadruple homicide. It was a hot summer day, when Darrell Bellard, 46, and Tkeisha Gilmer, 18, allegedly killed two women and two young children. It happened in a trash-filled detached Riverdale garage, turned makeshift apartment. Police say the woman, and their three and four-year-olds, were killed "execution-style" during a drug deal gone terribly wrong.

Now tasked with yet another large-scale homicide, detectives will return to the Lexington Court Apartment Homes Sunday to pass out Crime Solvers flyers, and talk with more residents.

"Very often in a case like this, it's a citizens tip, a call into Crime Solvers. Information that may or may not seem big or small to them, but in a time like this when we are working against the clock, it's very valuable," Parker added.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), text "PGPD plus your message" to CRIMES (274637) on your cell phone, or go to www.pgcrimesolvers.com and submit a tip online. A reward of up to $25,000 is offered to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

A Lynching in Mississippi: NBC News Has Already Convicted Three Whites Suspected of a Non-Crime

Previous white lynching victims, the Mizzou Two: Sean D. Fitzgerald and Zachary E. Tucker

    By Nicholas Stix

According to First Amendment law, symbolic expression that gives offense to some people is protected by the U.S. Constitution. According to the current practice, however, any symbolic expression by a member of a politically unprotected group that a single member of a politically protected group declares offensive is a felony hate crime. Thus, three white men are in jeopardy of being convicted of a non-crime, and losing their liberty, which could be tantamount to a death sentence.

The case in Mississippi, in which three white students are “suspected” of hanging a noose and a traditional state flag of Georgia on a statue of James Meredith, the first black student to integrate Ole Miss in Oxford (the University of Mississippi) in 1962, is unfortunately reminding me of the campaign against the two University of Missouri/Columbia students, whom I dubbed the Mizzou Two, Sean D. Fitzgerald, 19, and senior Zachary E. Tucker.

However, things have gotten quite a bit worse in the intervening four years. The only positive in this is that so far, the three white man Ole Miss students being targeted are hanging tough, and refusing to speak to the authorities. Hopefully, that will leave time to organize an Internet campaign on their behalf. I’d like to see this case go all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

(By the way, why is there a statue of James Meredith, in the first place? This is yet another example of the shameless practice of defying every “first black” this or “first black” that which, far from impressing whites, in its outrageous exaggeration of black accomplishment, leads whites to discount all black achievements.)

My VDARE editor James Fulford has more on this story.

Note that in the story below, NBC News' headline defames the victims twice: By presuming that they are guilty, and asserting that they "vandalized" the statue, which in fact was not vandalized by anyone. Note, finally, the black coed in the picture at the bottom of the page, holding the sign saying, "This is our university." She means that in the black sense.

Students Who Vandalized James Meredith Statue Refuse Questioning

    NBC News

Three white male students refused to be questioned by University of Mississippi officials about racist vandalism on a statue of James Meredith, the first African-American student to attend the school, university police said Friday.

On Monday, the University of Mississippi’s Alumni Association offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of two men who were heard shouting racial slurs while they draped the commemorative statue with a noose and an old Georgia state flag, according to the University Police Department.

University Chief of Police Calvin Sellers said the department had gathered enough evidence by Wednesday to bring charges against two 19-year-old male students from Georgia. A third student from Georgia was “prominent in the investigation,” Sellers said, according to a statement.

The university police set up a meeting with the students on Thursday, but the three did not attend and then sought out lawyers, Sellers said. The lawyers will not allow police to question their clients without an arrest warrant, Sellers added.

University of Mississippi Chief of Staff and General Counsel Lee Tyner said that state and federal assistance would help the school to pursue charges “to the full extent of the law,” and the process can proceed without the students’ cooperation.

James Meredith, now 80, fought to gain his acceptance to the University of Mississippi, and even after he was admitted to the newly -desegregated school, needed protection from Deputy Marshals for a year, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. He graduated in 1963. [N.S.: How could Meredith have graduated in 1963, if the only entered the school in 1962?]

The statue is engraved with the words, “Courage, Knowledge, Opportunity, and Perseverance."
